About the company IZOTERM-PLAMA, d. d.

IZOTERM-PLAMA, d. d., has a 50 years long history of doing business. We are located in Podgrad, near Croatian and Italian border. Podgrad is situated at one of the most important transportation paths connecting Western Europe with the Balkans and it is only about 40 kilometres far from the three most important ports in the region; Koper, Reka and Trst.

At the beginning the company produced various heat and sound insulation materials, the production range was later broaden with packaging products made of expanded polyetyhlene.

Izoterm-Plama used to be a part of the company Plama Podgrad, one of the largest companies producing and processing plastics mass in Slovenia before the nineties. In the process of privatization Plama was in 1994 devided into four joint-stock companies that, each by itself, at the same location, continue the succcesful work of the previous company.

TODAY

There is approximately 100 people employed in the company Izoterm-Plama today. In the period 2001–2005 we tripled the production and sales volume. 30 % of our products are sold in Slovenia, 70 % are exported, mostly to Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary and the republics of former Yugoslavia. Lately we have developed several new products and introduced confectioning what increased the added value of the products. In the next five years we want to double this sales volume.

Last year we invested a lot, namely 1,2 Mio EUR, in our subsidiary in Serbia, in the town Ub. Because of constant modernization we are one of the technologically best equipped companies in the field of expanded polyethylene in Europe.

A limitation in distribution of expanded polyethylene is transportation. That is why the investment in Serbia is of strategic importance and we plan to have it ready for a competitive business conduct in the year 2006.

We are aware of the complexities of the market that with the help of globalisation drives out less succesful companies in every industrial sector. That is the reason why we are trying to specialize our operation as much as we can, technologically modernize it and ensure our competitive advantages this way, too.
